About
Experienced and Compassionate Care
With a robust background in school social work and adoption along with extensive experience in helping children with disabilities, STL Social Work brings a wealth of knowledge and empathy to our practice. Over the past 30 years we have cultivated a deep understanding of the unique challenges children face in academic settings, with their peers, and at home. This experience allows us to provide targeted and effective support, ensuring that each child receives the care they need to thrive.

Collaborative and Client-Centered
We believe that the best outcomes are achieved through collaboration. By partnering closely with parents, educators, and other professionals involved in a child's life, we ensure a holistic approach to treatment. Our goal is to create a unified support system that fosters growth and development, helping children overcome obstacles and build resilience. We work hand-in-hand with families to set realistic goals, develop effective strategies, and celebrate progress along the way.

Creating a safe space of comfort and connection is what drives me as a social worker. For over thirty years, I’ve provided such a supportive space for children, teens, and families. Today, I work to build rapport quickly by creating a warm space for clients to feel heard and to explore coping skills. I partner with my clients (and their parents) to help identify areas of focus for treatment. I strive to help clients strengthen their skills and confidence to live a healthier life.

I am approachable and relatable: Tweens and Teens often open up more easily to someone they feel they can connect with and my sense of humor and ability to incorporate pop culture references appropriately all convey a genuine interest in their world.
I am patient and understanding: Tweens and Teenagers are going through a period of significant development, and they may be experiencing a wide range of emotions. I am patient with them as they explore their feelings and develop coping mechanisms.
Respectful and non-judgmental: It's important for me to create a safe space where teens feel comfortable talking about anything without fear of being judged.
I am a good listener: Perhaps the most important quality is my ability to actively listen and understand what the teen is trying to communicate, both verbally and nonverbally.
I have strong knowledge about adolescent development: I have a strong understanding of the physical, emotional, and social changes that children teenagers face. This foundation allows me to acknowledge the specific needs of each child/teen.
After obtaining both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in social work, I began my career in school social work and helping children with disabilities. I then worked in the field of adoption, helping those unable to raise their babies and those interested in adopting.
I am a mother of two teens, who are my best teachers in parenting. I grow and learn right alongside them. Parenting has its ups and downs and raising your hands for help along the way takes courage.
